Why Choose Granite Worktops?
Granite Worktops are a popular choice for many homeowners due to their durability and aesthetic appeal. Granite is a natural stone that is mined from the earth, cut into slabs, and then polished to a high shine. Granite worktops are available in a wide range of colours and patterns, making it easy to find a style that suits your taste. Granite is also a very hardwearing material, making it ideal for use in the kitchen where it is subject to heavy use.

WHAT IS GRANITE?
Granite is a coarse-grained igneous rock formed from slowly cooling magma beneath the Earth’s surface. Its name comes from the Latin word granum, meaning grain, a nod to the visible mineral crystals that give granite its distinctive speckled appearance.
No two slabs of granite are ever the same. Quarried from sites across the world and cut into large slabs at our facility, each piece reveals its own pattern of colours, veins and crystals. Granite is available in an extraordinary range of finishes, from deep blacks and rich blues to warm creams, golds and reds, making it suitable for almost any interior style.
Granite has been used in construction for thousands of years, and for good reason. It is one of the hardest natural materials on Earth, resistant to heat, scratches and everyday wear. In a kitchen setting, granite stands up to hot pans, sharp knives and busy family life with very little fuss, which is why it remains one of the most popular kitchen worktops in UK homes.

Why Choose Granite?
Features of Granite Worktops
Hard-Wearing and Heat Resistant
Granite is one of the hardest natural stones available, second only to diamond. Granite worktops resist heat, scratches and everyday wear, making them ideal for busy kitchens. A well-fabricated granite worktop will last decades and often adds long-term value to your home.
A Wide Range of Colours and Finishes
Every granite slab is one of a kind. Our range includes black granite, white granite, grey, beige, blue, green and gold, available in polished, honed and leathered finishes. The breadth of choice means granite suits both traditional and contemporary kitchen designs.
Easy to Clean and Maintain
Granite worktops wipe clean with warm water and mild soap. Because granite is a natural stone, it benefits from being resealed every couple of years to keep liquids from sinking in. Our team will guide you through the simple routine.
Yes. Granite is a natural stone with tiny pores that can absorb liquid over time, so a sealant creates a protective barrier against stains. We pre-seal every worktop before installation, and most granites only need resealing every two to three years. Our team will let you know what schedule suits the specific stone you choose.
A well-fabricated and properly sealed granite worktop will comfortably last 30 to 50 years, often longer. Granite is one of the hardest natural stones on the planet, so unlike many engineered surfaces, it does not warp, fade or wear out under normal kitchen use. With basic care, your granite worktop will outlast most other parts of your kitchen.
Yes. Granite worktops can take direct contact with hot pans straight off the hob without scorching, blistering or discolouring. We still recommend using trivets for very hot cookware, mainly to protect the sealant rather than the stone, and to avoid any rare risk of thermal shock from extreme temperature changes.
Granite is highly scratch resistant. It is harder than steel, so knives, pans and most kitchen utensils will not mark the surface under normal use. Cutting directly on granite will blunt the knife long before it scratches the worktop, but we still recommend using a chopping board to keep your blades sharp and your worktop looking like new.
The cost of a granite worktop depends on the type of granite, the size of your kitchen, the finish, and any cut-outs needed for sinks or hobs. Rather than quote a misleading guide price, we prefer to give you an accurate figure based on your specific project. Get in touch and we’ll come back to you within 24 hours.
Granite comes in a wide range of natural colours, including black granite, white granite, grey, beige, blue, green and gold. Because granite is quarried from sites around the world, each colour has its own character. Some are uniform with subtle flecks, while others feature dramatic veining or bold patterns.
