Porcelain Worktops
Porcelain worktops have always been a staple of European kitchens for quite a while but have recently started to see a resurgence in popularity. The trend for porcelain worktops will likely only continue from here as they are a fantastic option with plenty of benefits.

WHAT IS PORCELAIN?
Porcelain is made from a substance known as China Clay, also known as Kaolinite along with silica, feldspar and other mineral oxides. The result is an incredibly dense material that is incredibly durable and stylish. Porcelain is known for its resistance to heat, stains, UV rays, chipping and cracking which makes it a very good option for use in busy kitchens.
During manufacturing, pigmented glazes are added to create different colours, patterns and finishes for the slab. Porcelain worktops can be either glazed or unglazed. A high-gloss or matt glaze (with or without a pattern) is applied twice to ensure that it adheres to the slab completely.
Glazing decreases the porosity, the risk of staining, adds a shiny finish and improves overall durability.
One drawback of glazed porcelain worktops is that the pattern sits only on the surface and doesn’t go through the entire slab as it does with natural granite. The interior colour may be different and can be seen if the surface is chipped or cracked.
