Harrods Brasserie
Granite House began operations in 2005. What started as a small company with a clientele focus within the local area of Southport, quickly became one of the UK’s most recognisable and trusted stone fabricators. Now the business has taken on a more extensive position with work being attained both nationally and internationally. Distribution of only the finest in granite and quartz surfaces alongside the latest in technologically advanced machinery means that Granite House is capable of turning even the most imaginative ideas into reality.
Harrods is one of the largest and most famous department stores in the world. They are known as one of the most prestigious names in Retail and being trusted to fit multiple of the most visited areas of the store is an honour for Granite House.
They recently completed work on the famous Baccarat Bar at Harrods, Knightsbridge. Harrods partnered with the prestigious French crystal brand, to open the Baccarat Bar. Baccarat’s Parisian Maison inspired the interior, with the room lavishly decorated in the brand’s signature red, including marble floors and crystal lights throughout.
For this project, Granite House sourced directly from the mines in the Tuscany region of Italy for the most brilliant and beautiful, Noir Saint Laurent marble. This material is a dark marble with gold veins, a sophisticated and chic look that adds an artistic, original flair to any space. It was the perfect material to use for a place like Harrods and it was fabricated to Granite House specifications, in record time. It is the first time in 171 years that Harrods has had a standalone concept bar, a great achievement for the stonemasons of Granite House.
This marble offered incredible versatility during the fabrication process and fit the contemporary environment of the Brasserie restaurant. After the marble was cut down to a workable size and shipped off, the team returned to the UK and eagerly awaited the stone shipment. Once the stone had arrived at the factory and showroom, each slab was inspected in person by representatives of Harrods – allowing them to evaluate the aesthetic appearance and suitability of every marble slab.
Once the Harrods team approved the marble at the factory, work began the very same day to fabricate the slabs using state-of-the-art CNC machinery; allowing us to work on intricate designs and shapes for the whole restaurant. The team worked to create several pieces including curved columns, servery countertops with fluted fascia for the reception desk and flooring. The material was book-matched and mechanically fixed to the structure of the building. This project was fast-tracked with a very tight deadline, the Granite House team worked continuously to get the project finished on time.
Due to their attention to detail and manufacturing skills, Granite House also won the contract to design and fabricate the new Harrods of Knightsbridge Tea Rooms at Hamad International Airport, Doha, Qatar. With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Granite House prides themselves on their high standards of craftsmanship and prompt services. There is a lot more to the company than just the competitive price.
Granite is an impressive stone that varies in colour; its flamed structure making every individual stone unique. Not only is this material strong, hard and robust, but it also has excellent weathering qualities making it perfect for architectural projects. Granite House isn’t just limited to creating beautiful domestic kitchens, the team at Granite House can use technological advances in stone fabrication to allow you to present the latest innovative ideas to your clients.
