The Worktop Fabricators Federation (WFF) is a collaborative community of industry professionals committed to raising standards and improving safety across the board.
Formed in 2020, it is built on a philosophy of mutual support, and its members regularly meet to discuss best practices and promote positive health & safety policies. We understand that we are stronger together, and by sharing what we have learned, we are able to push not only ourselves forward, but the whole industry. It’s a simple premise, but it works.
As strong believers in this mission, Granite House is honoured to not just be a member of the WFF, but to have hosted the most recent meeting. We take great pride in the fact that as our fellow members came together to create a unified voice for the industry, they did so at our very own Preston factory.
Protecting our workers is a huge priority, especially when our industry has a lot of moving parts and is changing all the time. We’re proud to have provided WFF members with a valuable forum to remain informed about the issues that affect us and pool our collective knowledge to craft solutions.
For example, a key concern raised during a recent meeting was respirable dust. These particles are common occurrences in work undertaken by WFF members, and if our workers are not protected properly, they are at risk of illness. This is because respirable silica dust is carcinogenic and can lead to the development of lung cancer if inhaled consistently for a prolonged period.
By gathering our members together – who all work across various fields within worktop fabrication – they were able to offer their unique perspectives and work towards finding solutions. The WFF’s ability to prioritise concerns that would otherwise be overlooked is a significant benefit of our collective trade association.
Alongside this, our meetings feature live demos from suppliers that showcase the latest technology. Sharing these developments enables our members to constantly stay ahead of the curve and optimise their operations for maximum efficiency.
The WFF is clearly committed to empowering its members, and the benefits of joining are evident. Together, we can raise and maintain standards throughout the industry. But above all, the WFF provides industry professionals with a sense of community and belonging that reminds them they are not alone.
