Ah, summer- the season of the grill.

You’ve probably experienced the smoky, mouth-watering scents that come along with people hosting garden parties around you area, and maybe you are thinking of hosting one yourself.

Take a look at our handy sizzling summer party guide to making sure your garden is looking ship shape before your guests arrive!

Make Your Lawn Luscious

If you have a grassy area in your garden, now is the time to get thinking about tackling any lawn issues that you may have.

If you have bare patches, it’s important to give your grass time to adjust and re-grow, so it’s not something you can fix last minute.

If your lawn just needs a bit of neatening up or maintaining, set aside a few hours to get it looking perfect. Pull out that lawn mower and sharpen those shears and make that lawn look luscious!

Tidy Hedgerows or Flowerbeds

Just like your lawn, you will want to make sure that your flowerbeds and hedges are looking tidy.

De-head any flowers which look like they are beginning to wilt and give then a good watering and include feed if you think they need it. Trim off any stray branches on your hedgerows to make sure that they look sleek and tidy.

Power Wash Your Stonework

Stonework gets dirty very easily, especially if it is exposed to the elements. Before your guests come round, it’s a great opportunity to blast that dirt off with a power washer.

Not only will this make all your stonework look like new, but it will also allow you to see if the stones have been damaged in any way so that you can replace them if necessary.

Decorate Your Garden

We’re not saying your garden isn’t beautiful enough as it is, but adding a few decorations around your garden never hurts.

Why not weave solar powered fairy lights throughout your hedgerows to create a magical mood lighting effect once the sun goes down? Or how about hanging bunting around your garden to add a bit more colour and pattern to your outdoor space?

Hanging Strands of Lights

If you are planning to host your party during the evening, creative lighting options such as tea lights in jam jars are always a welcome addition, as it adds a natural source of light rather than the glaring house lights which may feel more intrusive and uncomfortable.

Clean Your Grill

Even if you have used your grill recently, it’s highly important that you give it a thorough cleaning before you begin using it to cook food for your guests, especially if it has been sat outside.
