In the home, the kitchen is one of the most important rooms to think about, especially when it comes to an interior re-design. Not only is it a essential for food preparation, it is also a main social hub in the home where families congregate to talk about their day as they cook up some delicious food.
With this in mind, its little wonder that the kitchen is one of the most updated rooms in the home, but this also means that it can be one of the hardest to re-design. Because it is so integral to the home, homeowners are hesitant to commit to a complete remodel without having some questions answered first.
Being one of the leading providers of durable kitchen worktops in Liverpool, we’ve heard many different queries when it comes to re-fitting a kitchen. Here are the 3 most common that we hear from customers with regards to a complete kitchen upgrade.
What Should My Budget Be?
Budget is a completely situational topic, and not one that we can generally advise for. No two kitchens will ever be exactly the same which means the amount that will be required will differ too.
Not only will the design and components of the kitchen affect how much you should budget, but you should think about who will be doing the work. Will you be undertaking some of the work yourself? Will you be employing professional tradesmen instead? Labour charges can soon mount up if you haven’t budgeted for them.
You also need to make sure that the design idea that you have is also realistic. It can be easy to get carried away when thinking about what you are wanting in your kitchen, but do you really need that ultra-modern wine cooler? Could you spend that £150 elsewhere and have a more worthwhile appliance?
It’s best to research your options before committing to a design idea so that you can have some sort of accurate budget plan in place before you begin.
What Will be the Most Expensive Aspect?
Just like the budget question, the most expensive part of your kitchen will depend completely on the design.
However, in most kitchen remodels, the countertops and cabinets usually cost the most. This is because they are intended to be a long-lasting investment rather than something that will be changed every few years or so.
The cost of these will also depend on the size of your kitchen, the material you want to use and if the cabinets and worktops will be custom-made for your kitchen.
Again, research is key, no matter what your budget is. Big or small, you want to make sure that you are investing your money on good quality kitchen furniture, especially if you are spending the most money from your budget on it.
How Long Will It Take?
The length of time that it will take to complete your kitchen re-design will depend completely on the extent of the work you are asking for.
Part-fit outs such as simply changing the flooring and cabinet options can take around 2 weeks, whereas full fit outs may take several months to complete.
Keep in constant communication with the designers and people who are working on your kitchen to get an accurate time-frame for when the work will be complete, especially if they have other projects on the go at the same time.
The more that you can prepare beforehand, the quicker it will be complete. Don’t leave it to the last minute to empty your kitchen ready for work and make sure that you have finalised the design and are happy with it before giving the go ahead.
It’s always good to ask questions, especially when investing your time and money into remodelling one of the most important rooms in your home.
