3 Places You Neglect when Cleaning Your Kitchen (But Shouldn’t)

Not everyone likes cleaning their kitchen, even though it’s one of the most important rooms in the house to keep clean; after all, it is the room that all your food will be prepared in!

But what if we told you that even the cleanliest of cleaners were missing areas in their supposedly thorough kitchen clean? As leading providers and installers of worktops in Cheshire, you could say that we know a thing or two about the kitchen, so here are three areas of your kitchen that you are probably neglecting when cleaning… but really shouldn’t be!

Space Between Appliances

Surely that tiny gap between your oven and your granite worktop isn’t going to collect that much dirt and grime, right?

Wrong! That small space has the capacity to collect and trap quite a lot of dirt, and as it’s out of the way, it’s extremely easy to adopt the “out of sight, out of mind” mindset. You don’t want there to be any form of dirt build up in your kitchen, so it is important to locate these small, hard to notice collections and clean them up.

You can do this by carefully moving your appliance out so that you have access to the space, or even find a vacuum adaptor that will fit in the space and allow you to suck the dirt out.

Fridge Storage Boxes

We’re pretty sure that the majority of you kitchen cleaners out there clean the shelves of your fridge with a quick wipe, but how many of you take the time to clean out the storage bins and door shelves in there too?

These storage spaces can easily attract bacteria and germs, just like the shelving options that you’ve already cleaned! They don’t need any extra special care, just a regular wash in warm soapy water to get rid of any bacteria or produce which may have spilled into it.

Bins and Bin Lids

You may think that simply taking your full rubbish bin out one it has reached the top of the bin is enough to dodge that nasty bin smell, but sometimes it just isn’t enough.

Bin bags aren’t the sturdiest of items and it is completely possible that some product which has been thrown in your bin has leaked out of a small hole and congealed in the bottom of the container.

This is why it is essential to give your bin a rinse out regularly with kitchen cleaner and warm water to get rid of any build up and destroy any bacteria that may have collected.

The lid of the bin isn’t to be forgotten either, as both the inside and the outside can easily become covered in old food and mould. Clean them both regularly and we guarantee you won’t be plagues with the bin smell in your beautiful kitchen.

Keeping your kitchen clean is important, not only for aesthetic reasons but for health reasons too. The less bacteria and dirt that you have in your kitchen, the less likely you will be to get ill after preparing food there.
